Star Chaos is a fast action Space Invaders game in the line of Operation Intercept by DGS. I originally wrote it after playing the demo version of Operation Intercept because I did not have enough money to go out and buy the full version! Star Chaos v2.0 now features 60 levels - a third more than v1.x.
What do I need to run it?
Star Chaos will run on any Macintosh, 68K or PowerPC, with a 256 colour 640x480 screen. Star Chaos will set your monitor to 256 colours automatically when you run it.
So how do I play?
Your spaceship is controlled using the mouse, both to steer and to fire your gun. You can activate your shield by pressing the Space Bar, however only a limited amount of shield power is available so use it sparingly.
From time to time a mothership will fly across the top of the screen. If you are lucky enough to hit it, a Crystal will fall down. These crystals can be exchanged for extra lives and points at various stages throughout the game. Crystals can also be collected if you hit all of the enemies on a particular level.
The game can be paused at any time by pressing the Caps Lock key. In the unlikely event that you want to abort the current game, simply press 'Q'.
Troubleshooting
• Star Chaos doesn't run at full speed on my Macintosh/the animation is jerky!
- You need a faster Mac model. Sorry. Star Chaos should manage full speed on 68040/PPC macs without trouble.
• What is the latest version of Star Chaos?
